Project title: Characterization of Bidirectional Promoters as a Novel Tool for Gene Coregulation

What’s Up?

Science: Jan 2024-Present

From this project, we hope to gain a deeper understanding of gene regulation and co-expression of bidirectional promoters. This project has important applications into future long-term projects such as measuring BDPs expression dynamics overtime and applying BDPs in existing co-expression applications.

What I learned:

  • Plasmid construction: gel electrophoresis, PCR, Gibson assembly, DNA purification
  • Cell culture
  • flow cytometry, FACS, immunofluorescence and fluorescence microscopy techniques
  • MATLAB, Spotfire, FCSalyzer
